American medical team visits Jordan University Hospital
 
 

The Director General of Jordan University Hospital, Prof. Jamal Melhem, received today, Tuesday, an American medical delegation that included Dr. Pierre Wong, Consultant Pediatric Cardiologist at Los Angeles Children’s Hospital, and representatives from the International Gift of Life Association and the Chain of Hope, aiming to establish cooperation between the two hospitals for performing surgeries for children suffering from congenital heart defects.
 
Melhem welcomed the visiting delegation, praising this humane pattern of medical cooperation and the opportunities to exchange experiences in this medical field, stressing the importance to continue of such initiatives, which pave the way for a large medical facilities as Jordan University Hospital to hold a humanitarian role in providing treatment services, especially for sick children who do not afford treatment costs.
 
For his part, the pediatric cardiologist at the hospital, Prof. Iyad Al-Amouri, stated that, in continuation to the series of surgical campaigns that reached (10) campaigns carried out by the hospital over the past years in cooperation with American, British and Italian medical teams, two campaigns will be implemented during the current year, including conducting a number of surgeries for a group of children suffering from congenital heart defects, as birth defects and others.
 
At the end of the meeting, the visiting delegation toured the operating rooms, the Pediatric Intensive Care Department, and the Pediatric Cardiology and Catheterization Clinic by the company of the Vice Director General of the Hospital for Medical Affairs, Prof. Dr. Nader Al-Basoul and for Administrative Affairs, Prof. Mahmoud Al-Mustafa, the Director of the Anesthesia and Resuscitation Department, and the consultants for cardiovascular surgery.
